Stainless steel insert screws into wood, plastic and other non-metallic materials and creates a tapped 1/4"-20 insert. Common on upholstery where it is hidden under the foam and vinyl. Similar in design to a wall anchor, however when manufacturing upholstery with wood or plastic backing, you can install these anchors from the backside or opposite side of the backing material so that there is minimum visibility. When a screw is installed into the plug the pulling force is against the head and not attempting to pull the plug anchor out of its hole. Can also be used to repair holes that have been enlarged due to pulled screws, age, or damage.
